A Game for Good: Real Houston Joins Forces with Pitch Positivity

On November 16th, 2024, a remarkable event took place in London, bringing together the power of soccer and the spirit of philanthropy. Pitch Positivity, an organization dedicated to raising funds for aspiring players and promoting awareness of men’s mental health, hosted a celebrity charity match aimed at supporting mental health and cancer research. Real Houston was honored to have our very own Rigoberto Cortez represent us at this noble event, marking a special connection between our club and the mission of Pitch Positivity. The journey of this collaboration began on Instagram, where Chris Benson, the passionate organizer and CEO of Pitch Positivity, reached out to Rigo with an invitation to take part in the charity match. The event featured a lineup of charismatic and talented players, making it a true spectacle for spectators. Mathew Briggs, an ex-professional player for Fulham, took the helm as captain of the Pitch Positivity F.C, while Joshua Willcox led the Conquest Cup F.C. As the match kicked off, it quickly became clear that both teams were evenly matched, showcasing incredible skill and sportsmanship. The intensity of the game was palpable, but as the clock ticked on, Conquest Cup found their rhythm and chemistry, ultimately clinching the victory with a final score of 7-2. Rigoberto Cortez expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate, saying, “I never thought futbol would lead me to be around so many likeminded people. I'm grateful to have been a part of a good cause and for the friendships made along the way. This is the best sport in the world.” This charity match marks the inaugural event of what Pitch Positivity hopes to make an annual tradition. With the goal of fostering community and support for essential causes, we stand behind Pitch Positivity 100% in their mission to raise awareness and funds. At Real Houston, we are proud to be involved in initiatives that make a difference. Together, let’s continue to support the causes that matter while enjoying the beautiful game we all love. Stay tuned for more updates and events that not only promote soccer but also shine a light on important issues within our communities!
